Fukuchiyama in northern Kyoto is an inland basin with strong day-night temperature shifts. This is a rare single-origin Fukuchiyama Gyokuro, since much local tea is usually blended into Uji tea. The cultivar is Hoshun, selected and developed in Kyoto, known for fresh, vivid aroma. This lot is gently aged for about one year at low temperature, softening sharp edges and rounding astringency. The result is calm, transparent umami and a cooling vegetal finish with quiet depth.
