"What kind of tea are you looking for?"

Twenty years ago, in China, I was told there were thousands of kinds of tea
when I bought tea for the first time. That moment of confusion became the starting point of this shop.

As with wine or coffee,
I wanted to create a place that could serve as a compass, helping people find the tea that suits them among many origins and personalities.

It is astonishing how many distinct characters can emerge from the leaves and stems of the same plant.
Tea has no borders, and there are so many kinds in the world that no one could taste them all in a lifetime.
The days of discovery never end.

Bottled tea is convenient and wonderful, but there are also many great qualities found only in loose-leaf tea.

Would you like to explore and discover tea through our seven tea categories with us?

History of Tea

Tea is said to have been discovered around 2700 BCE,
with origins in what is now Yunnan and Guizhou in China.

Valued first for its medicinal effects, tea is now enjoyed worldwide
as a beverage of pleasure and, at times, as a functional drink for wellness.

In Japan, tea is often associated with green tea,
but the most consumed tea globally is black tea.
Today, Chinese-origin oolong is produced in Japan,
while Japanese-style matcha is produced seriously in China,
and new hybrid teas are emerging that do not always fit neatly
into conventional processing categories.

The world of tea has continually evolved through time.
What will it become next?
We value tradition, while keeping our eyes on the future.
